Strandbad Wannsee
Back to all places
The Wannsee lido in the Zehlendorf district is considered the highlight of Berlin’s leisure architecture and is still the largest inland lake resort in Europe. On its 1,275 meter long and 80 meter wide sandy beach, the listed complex in the New Objectivity style offers space for around 50,000 guests.
Cloakrooms, shower facilities as well as sales and service facilities are located in the building complex with a covered promenade built by Martin Wagner and Richard Ermisch in 1929/30. They were laid out on a terraced steel structure clad in yellow clinker.
The roof areas with their large sunny plateaus and sports areas offer a beautiful view of and over the lake. For the 100th anniversary on May 12, 2007, the lido was extensively renovated.
